What did you miss?

Alesha Dixon has said Britain's Got Talent boss Simon Cowell is a “born rebel” and that if they want him to do anything they have to ask him to do the opposite.

The singer and TV star works with Cowell, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli on the panel of the hit ITV entertainment show, which is set to return in the spring. There have been reports that the rules haven’t been strictly adhered to this series, with claims that judges have been bashing the golden buzzer more than once.

Typically, each judge has the power to press the buzzer on one occasion, sending an act through to the semi-finals. But it seems Cowell hasn’t been too rigid about it this year.

What, how, and why?

Dixon was quizzed about it during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning, and told presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: “It’s been a crazy ride, a lot of rule-breaking again.

"Since Bruno has joined the panel there’s been a lot of… the rules have all gone out of the window… it’s like sitting next to an excitable puppy!”

When Hammond mentioned that the judges get one golden buzzer each, Dixon said: “You are supposed to get one! But that rule seems to have gone out of the window. It’s Bruno and Simon, the pair of them.”

The star added that music and TV mogul Cowell “is such a rebel”. “Do you know, the producers still haven’t learned, that if you want him to do something, ask him to do the opposite, because he is a born rebel,” she laughed. “I love it though!”

Alesha Dixon shared details of her golden buzzer act

Dixon also let slip a few details about what viewers could expect this series, teasing that the standard is high.

Speaking about her own golden buzzer act, she shared: “Generally speaking I am the last one to press it. I am a bit more particular. But when I do, I like it to be something meaningful.

“So my golden buzzer act this year, he is doing a lot of good in the world, and I am so happy that he has got this platform to show what he does.”
