Alesha Dixon left in floods of tears over Britain's Got Talent kid's cancer battle

Britain's Got Talent returned to screens on Sunday night, as the 17th series continued. Despite only launching on Saturday, viewers have already seen two golden buzzers handed out.

Alesha Dixon was left in floods of tears on the ITV talent show on Sunday, as Ravi’s Dream Team took to the stage and left not a dry eye among the audience and panel. They performed a rendition of The Greatest Showman's A Million Dreams.

The choir, made up of people ranging from aged five to 78, saw eight-year-old BGT fan Ravi who was front and centre open up on his heartbreaking cancer battle.

Ravi explained he was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago and wanted to show others battling the disease they can still go out and follow their dreams.

He was joined on stage by his friends, family, teachers and medical professionals who have helped him since his diagnosis. Alesha was given a hug by Simon Cowell as she broke down following the performance before pressing her golden buzzer.

Reacting to them being put straight through into the semi-final shows, Simon said: "I think you are very talented, very brave and a very special person. You deserve it - all of you by the way - that's why we have golden buzzers for people like you , so deserved."

With tears streaming down her eyes, Alesha began: "Well, the golden buzzer is such a personal thing so I can only press when it feels right and you are such a remarkable young man," before she choked up and added: "I just loved it well done."

"You are a hero," fellow judge Bruno quipped as the camera panned around the studio audience who were also in floods of tears. The kids and their parents were jumping for joy, in complete disbelief.

Reacting to the group on social media, viewers took to Twitter. One wrote: "Ravi’s Dream Team, absolutely outstanding!! Just amazing and the togetherness, love, support and harmony they bring. Loved it!! #BGT."

Another said: "Golden Buzzer from Alesha to Ravi and the amazing choir who had me and mum in tears !! #BGT."

However, some viewers feel the golden buzzers are going out too quickly, as one said: "Ravi's dream team: A good audition what a lovely and inspirational boy Ravi is. What an incredible journey he's been on. Not worthy of a Golden Buzzer though imo. They are giving them out like sweets at this point. I feel Alesha just acted off backstory. #BGT"
