Yahoo News 'Good Morning Britain' weather presenter Alex Beresford lonely in lockdown after split from wife
Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford has confessed to feeling lonely in lockdown after splitting from his wife.
The 39-year-old weather presenter revealed his wife Natalia and their 10-year-old son Cruz moved out just two weeks before the coronavirus restriction began despite the couple “desperately trying to make things work.”
Beresford told ITV’s Britain Get Talking podcast: “'It's been a massive learning curve, I didn't think at the age of 20 that when I was approaching 40, I would be in this situation.
“The age of 40, you'll be married, you'll be a grown up, you'll have a kid or two, your life is going to be set. I'm not old, I don't feel old, it's a bit daunting.

“But we've been in lockdown, so even if I wanted to go on a date, I couldn't go on a date.
“I don't want to grow old on my own, life is for sharing and it'd be great to meet someone in the future but they have to be right for me, right for Cruz.”
The former Dancing On Ice contestant – who took part in the skating show in 2018 – revealed that his wife and son had to self isolate for 14 days shortly after leaving home as Natalia had a cough.
Beresford said: “I watched Boris Johnson’s lockdown message sitting on my sofa feeling really lonely. And I couldn’t see Cruz for two weeks.”
The TV presenter admitted, “I hate quitting things,” but revealed that after he and Natalia agreed to separate, “we started to get on better”.
He added: “It removed a lot of the stress and expectation that a relationship can bring.”

Opening up about his mental health, Beresford also spoke of losing his step-grandmother Ivy Stewart during lockdown and not being able to mourn her loss with his family due to the restrictions.
My lovely step grandmother died on her own tonight! I can’t even go to my mums to hug her or my stepdad. They also can’t leave the house because they are vulnerable and I doubt they would let us in to pay our respects. I feel upset, trapped and powerless!

He said: “She has been in a care home. Ironically she used to work in care homes when she first came to England.
“We don’t believe she died of COVID-19 but we understand she did have a cough in the last week. We’re still waiting to find out.”
Beresford’s cousin Nathaniel Armstrong, 29, was stabbed to death in west London in March 2019, just days after the presenter made an impassioned on-air speech about knife crime.
