Alex Jones has gushed over a "surreal and special" event she attended alongside her husband Charlie Thomson. The couple, who tied the knot at Cardiff Castle in 2015, enjoyed a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Sharing a string of snaps from the royal event on her Instagram Story, Alex and Charlie posed for the camera as The One Show presenter wrote: "Mama and dad went to a posh garden party," before adding: "Wandering around the garden was such a huge treat."

The 47-year-old also posted to her main grid, where she posed for multiple photographs alongside Charlie, as well as shared snaps of herself meeting the Queen with her co-host Roman Kemp. And while Alex admitted it was an honour to be invited and that she was nervous to meet Queen Camilla, she also revealed a fashion blunder left her explaining herself away to Her Majesty.

She captioned the images: "Such an honour to be invited to Buckingham Palace yesterday afternoon for a garden party. I was so nervous about meeting Her Majesty the Queen and @romankemp will confirm how I had to admit to the Queen that my bag was attached to my dress and I hadn’t had time to untangle it before meeting her."

She added: "It still feels so surreal and special to attend events like this." The mum-of-three's "incredible" bag was an unusual design from Lulu Guinness.

The stunning number looked like a floral bouquet with Roman referring to it as a "plant pot". Raving over the bag on social media, Alex said: "Thank you @lulu_gunness for the most perfect bag for the occasion. Lilt of the valley was the late Queen's favourite flower I was told this afternoon by a member of staff at the palace."
