Alex Jones, the long-standing host of The One Show since 2010, typically shares the screen with ex-footballer Jermaine Jenas and radio personality Roman Kemp.

However, in a surprising twist, all three of the regular presenters were missing from Tuesday's show, leading to Lauren Laverne and Vernon Kay stepping in as hosts.

The episode was nothing short of glamorous, featuring a lineup that included Daisy Edgar Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, who are all part of the cast for the new hit movie Twisters.

Comedian Alan Carr also made an appearance to chat about the comeback of the classic eighties sitcom Changing Ends, the Express reports.

Alex's absence is down to a significant change in her personal life as she is currently moving house after 11 years, along with her husband and their children.

The TV presenter has been actively engaging with her 363,000 Instagram followers, sharing updates on her packing process as she gets ready to leave the family home they've cherished for over a decade.

Earlier this week, Alex broke the "news" to her fans, revealing that the move was scheduled for three weeks' time while she went through her kids' keepsakes, even reaching out to her audience for advice on packing.

Her post read: "This was emotional. After 11 years, we are moving house," which was followed by a tearful emoji to express her feelings.

Previously in April, Alex took some time off from The One Show, announcing her departure with a post.

She shared: "The face of a woman who is off on holiday......."

Adding to this, the mother of three expressed gratitude towards her viewers: "Thank you for watching this week and especially for all the lovely comments about last night's One Big Thank you."

She concluded with praise for her team: "The team is the best at finding the great stories. It was an emotional one."

Alex Jones, who joined The One Show more than ten years ago, initially shared the green sofa with Matt Baker.

She took over from Northern Irish presenters Christine Lampard and Adrian Chiles. The television personality is wed to Charlie Thomson, a native of New Zealand.

The couple first crossed paths at a party in 2011 and exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2015.
