Alex Jones has revealed she used to play a game of how many people she could kiss on a night out when she was single.

The One Show host was talking to Dannii Minogue about the new series of I Kissed A Girl. Minogue explained the concept of the BBC dating show in which matched couples must share a kiss before getting to know one another.

Minogue, 52, and Jones, 47, explained to The One Show presenter Roman Kemp, 31, that before dating apps on internet dating, kissing a stranger was how many romances began. Married mother-of-three Jones revealed she had been telling Kemp about the kissing competition she used to enjoy while out with her friends when she was single.

Singer Minogue is presenting a new series of I Kissed A Girl on BBC Three beginning on Sunday 5 May. It follows last year's queer dating show I Kissed A Boy at this year's series contestants are all queer women. Minogue said: "We try to make sure there's someone there that we really do think that they'll like, but it starts with a kiss, no chat, nothing, before. It's SO, amazingly kind of awkward.

"But back in the day, before any dating apps — I've never used one I wouldn't know what to do — you'd go to the club, there'd be that electricity, that energy and then you might have a kiss and find out where that person was from. That's how it worked back in the day kids!"

Jones agreed: "Definitely. I mean yeah, we had a competition 'How many boys can you snog'? No chat, just straight to it." Minogue told a shocked looking Kemp: "You're learning a lot tonight." He replied: "Yeah, almost too much. " Jones said: "Don't worry, we won't go into any more of that."

Jones married her husband Charlie Thomson in 2015. They have three children, Teddy, seven, Kit, who turns five May and two-year-old daughter Annie.

Minogue also revealed she is about to release new music. She said: "I actually did go in the studio just before I left Australia. I haven't spoken about that... I can't say [the name of the song' because I love samples and mash-ups and I've done a lot of that over the years.

"But there's a sample we're trying to push through, we want to make all the right checks and balances. So I can't say."

Roman Kemp revealed he pressure his father, EastEnders and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp, 62, into getting his first tattoo.

Chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was a guest on the show and discussed the matching fish tattoo he has with his son. He pulled open the neck of his shirt to show the tattoo on his upper chest and explained: "It's a sardine. He got his first and I liked it so much I said, 'I want one' and he took me to the same tattoo parlour, and now we've got one each."

Kemp revealed he had always wanted his father to have a tattoo, and when he was just 10-year-old he managed to convince him to get one. He said: "My dad was more unlucky. He didn't have any tattoos and when I was about 10 he's a sucker for peer pressure and I peer pressured him into getting his very first tattoo.

"You can imagine what a 10-year-old boy wanted. It was for your dad to get a tattoo of a dagger, going through a Ying Yang with wings on it. Look how awful that is. He's still got it. He got what a 10-year-old boy would want. Sorry dad."

I Kissed A Girl will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Sunday 5 May. Episodes will air on BBC Three every Sunday and Monday night at 9pm.

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm Monday to Friday.
