Alexandra Daddario on filming “Mayfair Witches” while pregnant: 'I was throwing up and having make-out scenes'

The actress is expecting her first child with husband, Andrew Form.

Morning sickness and early call times don’t mix — just ask Alexandra Daddario.

The White Lotus alum announced on Wednesday that she is expecting her first child with husband, movie producer Andrew Form. However, their happy news was also a challenging development for Daddario when it came to filming the second season of her AMC horror series, Mayfair Witches.

In a new interview with Vogue, the actress revealed that while she kept her pregnancy from the world for six months, she only lasted a few weeks when it came to the show’s crew and her castmates.

"I was on set, and I was throwing up and having make-out scenes with my costars right after,” Daddario recalled. “By week five, I was like, ‘There’s no way I’m going to be able to hide this.’”

Daddario soon decided that she was better off just fessing up — the truth might even unlock a few perks: “I was like, ‘If I tell my job that I’m pregnant, I’m going to get a lot of time off to go throw up in peace.’” Did she get the desired result? “No,” Daddario confirmed, laughing.

But there were other benefits. “I have wonderful costars who have kids," she said. "And everyone was very understanding about making out with a nauseous, vomiting girl.”

Daddario and Form tied the knot in June, after going Instagram official in May 2021. While this will be Daddario’s first child, Form has two daughters whom he shares with ex-wife, Jordana Brewster.

Daddario went on to tell the outlet that she is "overjoyed" to be about their baby, especially after experiencing a prior pregnancy loss.

“It’s long and complicated, so I don’t want to be too specific,” she said of the incident. “Those kinds of losses and trauma are very hard to explain unless you’ve been through them. I really relate to all the women who have been through those kinds of things in a way that I didn’t understand fully before. It’s very, very painful.”

The struggle of mixing morning sickness and makeout scenes aside, Daddario added that it was ultimately helpful to have filming keeping her busy.

“I was so overwhelmed with work,” she said of the early days of her pregnancy. “Part of me was like, ‘This is the worst thing ever.’ Then part of me was like, ‘This is actually a great distraction.’ Because I’m not sitting there all day long in my house going, ‘If I pick up this pot to make pasta, is something bad going to happen? If I eat this pasta, is something bad going to happen?’”

Now, Daddario is looking forward to “finally embracing” her pregnancy, rather than hiding behind baggy clothes. “I can show it off,” she said.

Daddario is indeed embracing her happy news and took to social media to show off her baby bump in a new photo with a cheeky caption: “Excited for my child to go to pre-school with Margot Robbie and Hailey Bieber’s kids.
