Alfonso Ribeiro's son is on the mend.

The Dancing with the Stars host, 52, confirmed that his son AJ, 10, is "doing fine" after getting a black eye while playing baseball.

"When you play baseball, you're gonna get hit with a ball at some point or another, right?" Ribeiro tells PEOPLE.

"That's part of the game. The field is imperfect. It isn't always great grass, right? The dirt isn't smooth all the time," Ribeiro continues. "And in practice, the coach hit the ball. He was fielding the ball at shortstop."

"It caught a bad hop, hit him in the eye. There you go. Story's complete. It's part of baseball," he says. "But he's doing fine. The black eye is gone. He's back to playing baseball and injuring more parts of his body every day."

"It's just what he does, and he finds new ways to injure himself on a daily basis. And it's called 10, and being a boy. I love it."

Earlier this month, Ribeiro's wife Angela shared a Reel on her Instagram, revealing that her son AJ got a black eye while playing baseball. The mom of two documented her son's healing process in the video, sharing several photos back-to-back as AJ's eye healed.

She also reshared the post on her Instagram Stories, writing, "How I healed my son's black eye from ⚾️..." over the post.

Ribeiro and his wife are parents to sons AJ and Anders, 9, as well as daughter Ava, 5. He is also dad to daughter Sienna, 21, whom he shares with ex-wife Robin Stapler.

Last May, the dad of four revealed on Instagram that his daughter Ava had emergency surgery after falling off her sit-down scooter.

"Not the kind of day you want the day before turning 4," wrote Ribeiro alongside a photo showing Ava's injuries.

"Just want to give a heartfelt thank you to @kareskinmd for the emergency service and procedure to help lessen the likelihood of scaring. So proud of how brave my baby girl was during the surgery," he added.
