Ally McCoist and Dion Dublin disagree on Leeds United vs Southampton play-off final result

Ally McCoist and Dion Dublin have had their say on the up-and-coming Championship play-off final between Leeds United and Southampton. Both sides came up short in the race for automatic promotion, with Leicester City winning the league and Ipswich Town clinching second spot.

But United and Southampton made home advantage count in the second leg of their semi-finals with Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion respectively to set up a mouth-watering Wembley clash this Sunday. It is regarded as the richest match in world football and a place in the Premier League will be on the line.

The bookmakers fancy the Whites to come out on top at the home of football. History is not on United's side, though, with the West Yorkshire outfit having failed to win in five previous play-off attempts.

talkSPORT pundit McCoist has backed United to seal an immediate top-flight return with a shootout win. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I think that one is going to go all the way and I’m taking Leeds to win on penalties. How is that for completely not sitting on the fence, I think that is going to be a great game.”

Southampton hold the psychological advantage, having twice beaten the Whites in the regular league season. And BBC pundit Dublin has praised the job Saints boss Russell Martin has done to turn their fortunes around, tipping Southampton to edge out United in the showpiece final.

Dublin said: “I know Russ as well, and I like watching them play, and I think they do things in the right way and he’s a young manager coming in, so I’ll go – it’s difficult because Leeds are good – but I’m going to go Southampton."
