Ally McCoist has tipped Manchester City for the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal. That’s despite the former Rangers star and TV pundit admitting to changing his mind three times this week.

Liverpool is in the thick of a tense title race with just over a month of the season remaining. Arsenal led the way ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, although City has climbed to the summit ahead of the Reds and the Gunners playing on Sunday after beating Luton 5-1.

Jürgen Klopp’s side relinquished its lead at the top of the table last weekend after dropping points at Manchester United. It will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing week against Crystal Palace tomorrow, having suffered a shock 3-0 defeat at home to Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday.

The race for the title looks set to go down to the wire, with any dropped points from any of the three sides involved likely to make a huge difference. McCoist though has gone early and backed Pep Guardiola’s side to earn yet another title, although it wasn’t an easy choice.

“I’m getting my cards on the table immediately, I’ve changed my mind three times in the past week,” McCoist said on TNT Sports. “I went for Man City at the start of the season.

“Liverpool dropped points and Arsenal might be slight favorites, but I picked Man City at the start of the season, so I’m going to stick by them just for that reason. I think all three teams will win this week.” says: You can pretty much blindly pick any one of the three sides involved in the race and have just as much chance of being right. Paul Merson tipping either of Arsenal or Liverpool tells you just how tight this is going to be.

McCoist’s prediction though probably reflects what both the Reds and the Gunners will already know. Even with a lead over Guardiola’s side — albeit the slenderest of leads — many will still expect City to go in front at some stage. If they do, it might feel somewhat inevitable how the season will end up.

Liverpool therefore knows it pretty much has to be perfect over these last seven league games. We’ve seen signs of the Reds faltering at the wrong time over the last few days, but hopefully they can get back on track against Palace tomorrow.
