Upfront Ally McCoist riffed on Rangers' pain and joked they now need a favour from former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The pundit joked the Ibrox side's title plight to overturn Celtic is so perilous they are joining Arsenal and need Tottenham to beat Manchester City. Philippe Clement's side are six points behind Celtic with an inferior goal difference after their 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park. Rangers now need the champions to lose both games and for them to beat Dundee and Hearts convincingly – something the 61-year-old isn't banking on.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "Mate, we are so far off it, we need Spurs to beat Man City to have a chance for Rangers to win the league. I am afraid the eternal optimist has just about given up hope. It's not been a good weekend, at all, particularly for John Lundstram, an own goal and a red card. He has probably had a worse weekend than most.

Rangers came up short against Celtic and now face the reality of watching the dominant side in Scottish football land a 12th title in 13 seasons.

A title triumph will see Celtic qualify for the revamped Champions League which is set to see all participants increase their earnings with eight games guaranteed.
