Ally McCoist has slammed Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard for wasting the opportunity to create one more opening against Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel's side booked themselves a place in the Champions League semi-final after defeating Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate.

Joshua Kimmich put the German outfit ahead shortly after the hour mark and, despite the Gunners' best efforts, they couldn't find an equaliser at the Allianz Arena. However, Arsenal could have taken the tie to extra time had Rice or Trossard not squandered a set-piece.

In the dying embers of the clash, Mikel Arteta's side won a free-kick in a dangerous position. Instead of delivering the ball into the box, the north Londoners played it short – which left McCoist absolutely dumbfounded. Speaking on TNT Sports, the former Rangers striker said: "I can't believe that.

"I mean I cannot believe that from Arsenal, Adam [Summerton]. I mean, you play it wide to Trossard, fine. But you have to get the ball into the box, once you put your big lads up, get it in. If Declan Rice doesn't put it in first time. Okay, he gives it to Trossard. He has to put it in. That effectively could be the last opportunity."

After a closely fought tie, Bayern have joined Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final. Following a draw in March, the Bavarians will face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the next round.

Edin Terzic's side secured their spot in the semi-final after storming past Atletico Madrid at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Parisians enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Barcelona at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, winning 6-4 on aggregate.

Another draw was also held to determine the 'home' side in the final at Wembley Stadium for administrative reasons. This will be the winners of semi-final one – Dortmund or PSG. Nevertheless, the semi-final first leg will take place on April 30 and May 1, before the second legs are played on May 7 and May 8.

UEFA have confirmed that the semi-finals match schedule will be announced on Thursday, April 18, following the conclusion of the return legs in the quarter-finals.
