Alyssa Farah Griffin challenges Joy Behar for saying Republicans won't rebuke Trump: 'I've been doing it for 4 years'

"The View" cohosts held an impassioned debate about Joe Biden's fitness to continue in the presidential election.

Conservative millennial and cherry sweater-wearing fashion icon Alyssa Farah Griffin took a little time to remind Joy Behar that she's one of many Republicans who've called out the dangers of Donald Trump, as The View cohosts engaged Tuesday in an impassioned debate about Joe Biden's fitness to remain in the 2024 presidential race.

For the third consecutive new episode of the morning talk show, the Hot Topics table was ablaze with staunch stances on Biden's physical and mental capability to not only remain in the election cycle, but to lead the country in general, with Griffin leading the most recent episode by once again urging Democrats to replace Biden with a new candidate to appeal to the younger, much larger voting block making up a significant portion of the part.

"I'm a little tired of all the Biden bashing that's going on. I'm pissed off at it, frankly. There's a lot of Biden bashing going on and no calls for the sexually abusive felon to step down," 81-year-old Behar — making her first appearance on The View since the morning of Biden's widely derided performance in the June 27 debate — said, referencing Trump's recent slate of legal woes.

"That's actually not true though," Griffin, 35, pushed back, referencing her resignation from — and subsequent criticism of — Trump's White House team in 2020. "I've been doing it for four years. I testified against him. The fact that the public decided not to agree with it, I can't help."

Behar pushed back, telling Griffin, "Oh, come on, I don't see anybody in the right wing telling Trump, 'Oh, you have to sit down.'" It should be noted that, in addition to Griffin, conservative politician Liz Cheney appeared on The View in January and harshly criticized Trump's behavior, while Behar's Republican cohost Ana Navarro has also regularly slammed Trump from her seat at The View. Further, former View cohost Meghan McCain repeatedly jabs Trump on her podcast and on social media.

Back on Tuesday's episode, Behar's cohosts attempted to add to the conversation, prompting Behar to tell them, "Wait, I'm not finished," before rerouting the chat back to the debate.

"You know why Trump was better at [the debate]? Because he lies. He practiced his lies for two or three years already. All he did was spew lies that we've heard over and over and over again," she continued. "When you're telling the truth, Biden was trying so hard to tell the truth, it doesn't come as easily."

Sunny Hostin, the show's legal expert who previously entertained her cohosts' suggestions that Biden should step down if necessary, told Behar that Biden is "not the guy we saw as a senator, he's not the guy we saw for eight years standing by Barack Obama, jogging in the White House," and that's cause for concern.

"We have to admit that — if not, we're being gaslit. What I didn't like, and I'm conflicted about this, because we are facing this existential threat," Hostin added, going on to criticize Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for her handling of recent media inquiries into a Parkinson's specialist visiting the White House eight times since July 2023, per the Associated Press. "We saw something, okay?" Hostin said. "And it's almost like, don't believe your lying eyes. I don't like that. We expect Trump to lie — he's the liar-in-chief. We do not expect Joe Biden to lie. I want him to tell the truth.... I want him to say, 'I've gotten older, I'm not as sharp as I used to be."

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg closed the discussion by reiterating that she thought Biden had a bad night at the debate — a sentiment Jean-Pierre and Biden himself share.

"He's 81, and he did have a bad night, just like I have bad nights," the 68-year-old Oscar winner said. "You can't plan a bad night. A bad night sneaks up your butt and takes you like a puppet and messes up your night."

Despite sustained calls to step down from both Democrats and Republicans, Biden has maintained that he'll remain in the presidential race.
