Amanda Knox has joked about the time she spent in prison after being convicted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher.

Ms Knox, 31, spent four years in prison after she and her ex-boyfriend were jailed for the November 2007 murder in Italy, but she was later acquitted in 2011.

In a post on Instagram, Ms Knox shared pictures of her at a murder mystery event posing as a Victorian countess accused of stabbing the owner of an expensive piece of artwork.

She joked that she had been accused again and said her character had been exonerated in four hours, adding: "Better than four years."

In the post, she said: "Victorian London: A priceless painting goes missing and the owner is found both poisoned and stabbed.

"And would you believe it, I, the Countess of Lovelace, am accused. Also acquitted, all in 4 hours. Better than 4 years."

Her fiance Christopher Robinson also appears in the pictures.

Ms Kercher's body was found by police in the flat she shared with Ms Knox in 2007.

Her throat was slashed and she had been sexually assaulted.

Ms Knox and her boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted of murder and sexual assault in 2009.

Both insisted they were innocent and said they had spent the evening together at Mr Sollecito's home watching a film while smoking marijuana.

Two years later they were both acquitted at Perugia Court of Appeal, however the court upheld a malicious accusation conviction against Ms Knox.

Ms Knox was released after four years in prison and left Italy to return to the US.

She challenged the malicious accusation conviction from the US, but the Court of Cassation quashed her acquittal in 2013 and referred the case back to the Assize Court of Appeal.

She was re-sentenced to more than 28 years in prison for complicity in sexual assault and murder, and three years for malicious accusation.

Ms Knox launched another appeal, and in 2015 she and Mr Sollecito were acquitted of sexual assault and murder by Italy's highest court.

Rudy Hermann Guede, an Ivorian, is serving a 16-year sentence for Ms Kercher's murder.
