There was good news and bad news for Amazon customers during the Prime Day sales event on Monday (July 16).

On the plus side, customers got very familiar with "the dogs of Amazon" while trying to purchase their 4K TVs, PS4s and tablets during the yearly sales spectacular, and the pooches were undeniably cute.

The downside was that they were seeing "the dogs of Amazon" so often as part of an error message because Amazon continuously crashed for customers all over the world during the height of Prime Day shopping.

Many were understandably mad. But others saw the funny side, and imagined the chaos that must have been unfolding over at Amazon HQ while the website was down:

For someone else, the shopping delays were a nice chance to admire the dogs of Amazon:

While it's not clear what caused the error, one possible culprit has emerged:

Amazon has yet to actually address why its website crashed, or offer a firm update on when full service will be restored.

Luckily, shoppers will have until Tuesday night (July 17) at midnight to snap up their video game consoles, headphones, e-readers, smartphones, boxsets and laptops at cheap prices. Click here for all the best deals.

The site seems to be working well enough at the moment, so get your shop on before the dogs of Amazon strike back with a vengeance!
