You can't beat a good cuppa.

When made correctly, a brew can help to perk you up and melt away all the stresses of the day. But unfortunately for one American, her attempt at making the hot drink caused more hassle than it was worth.

Kelsey Pomeroy, an influencer from Kansas in the US, threw a tea party in celebration of the new season of Netflix show Bridgerton coming out.

She was determined to make a "proper" cuppa after buying a box of Yorkshire Gold tea bags, posting the results on Instagram. And it's safe to say it became a storm in a teacup!

Her biggest offence was combining the water and milk first and then boiling them together in a pan. She said: "I am an American learning how to make a proper cup of British tea because I'm throwing a high-tea party in honour of the Bridgerton premiere.

"Internet told me to buy these teas, the PG Tips and the Yorkshire Gold. Someone said that the perfect way to prepare this tea is to boil the milk with the water first and then pour it on top of the tea and then add the sugar. But no, I'll put it in a pan."

Kelsey considered adding two teabags in instead of one, but thankfully settled on a singular bag. She let the tea steep for three minutes, before pouring it out.

Despite claiming the brew 'tasted good', Brits were less than impressed with the final results. One replied, stating: "As a Brit, I'm going to need an obscene amount of therapy to get over the boiling milk."

Another said: "Genuinely think you may be banned from the UK for this." And a third joked: "I think it's funny you said you were gonna make a 'proper cup' of tea and then almost instantly chose violence."

Well, at least she tried!
