American Horror Story star Angelica Ross has alleged that Emma Roberts intentionally misgendered her while they were working together.

The two co-starred in the 1984 season of American Horror Story, where Ross alleges that Roberts was antagonistic to her and questioned how much money her co-workers were making. She has since tweeted claiming that Roberts had called her to apologise.

In an Instagram Live chat with fans this week, Ross recalled one alleged incident where Roberts made a transphobic comment in front of the director.

Ross accused Roberts of at first jokingly complaining to the director about her being "mean", but then intentionally misgendered her when the director tried to resume filming.

"[He said] 'Okay ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work'," Ross recalled. "And she then looks at me and goes, ‘Don’t you mean lady?'"

The actress went on: "I’m standing there looking her deadass in the damn [camera] trying to process [what] the f**k she just said.

"I’m like, ‘If I say something, it’s going to be me that’s the problem,’ and I know this because there was someone who spoke up about what she was doing and they got repercussions from it. Not her! They did."

Following this alleged transphobic microaggression, Ross says she chose to stop speaking with Roberts unless it was directly related to a scene they were filming.

The former Pose star added that she initially felt the two were getting along well on set, as Roberts had called out a crew member wearing a T-shirt with a political slogan associated with Donald Trump.

Digital Spy has reached out to Emma Roberts' representatives for a response to these allegations.

In a follow-up post on her social media, Ross encouraged her fans not to send threatening messages to Roberts.

"Let me make something absolutely clear," she wrote on X. "I appreciate the support but please do not joke about violence towards Emma. Joke about her being held accountable. Now THATs funny."

She also followed up by claiming on her social media that Roberts had called her to apologise following the allegations being made public.

"Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally," she wrote on X. "I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform."

Earlier this week, Ross criticised American Horror Story boss Ryan Murphy for apparently promising her a role in a season of the show that would focus on Black female characters but then ghosting her.

The award-winning actress insisted she'd lost a role with Marvel because she was waiting for a firm commitment on this season of AHS that ultimately never ended up happening.

American Horror Story has a new season beginning on Wednesday (September 20), where Emma Roberts has a starring role opposite Kim Kardashian.

American Horror Story: Delicate premieres on Wednesday on FX in the US and then on Disney+ in the UK, while seasons 1-9 are also available to buy on Prime Video.
