‘All American’s Hunter Clowdus Exits CW Series Ahead Of Season 6

It’s official. There will be no JJ Parker in Season 6 of CW’s All American. Hunter Clowdus, who has been with the series since its launch, has exited ahead of the upcoming season.

Clowdus joined as a recurring actor in Season 1 and was upped to series regular in Season 4. JJ Parker was an outside linebacker turned quarterback for the Beverly Hills Eagles, who shined as a star both on and off the field.

More from Deadline

Deadline hears that JJ’s storyline had “organically wrapped” at the end of Season 5, explaining Clowdus’ departure from the series.

Last month, the cast teased some of what to expect from the show’s upcoming sixth season. Read more here.

While neither All American nor its spinoff series All American: Homecoming (Season 3 of that series will return in the summer) has been renewed for another season quite yet, The CW‘s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz said that “as long as they keep rating, there’s no reason why we can’t keep them.”

All American is exec produced by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, John A. Norris, Jameal Turner, Mike Herro and David Strauss. The series stars Monet Mazur, Daniel Ezra, Samantha Logan, Cody Christian, Michael Evans Behling, and Greta Onieogou.

Season 6 premieres on April 1 on The CW.
