An American living in Scotland has been introduced to the lingo which even Scottish people have admitted is 'weird'.

The TikToker 'Luluowl', has taken to the video app to document how she has been adapting to life since moving from Los Angeles to Scotland.

In her latest video, she has explained some of the strange sayings she's picked up on recently.

Lua said: "I went out with a few of my Scottish girlfriends and here's what I learned.

"Out Out. So there is a difference between going out and going 'out out'. 'Going out' means you're going to go out for some dinner, have a few drinks and then go home. 'Out Out' means you're going to dinner, drinks, a club, maybe a bar and an afters.

"A disco winch. A disco winch is basically when you make out with someone at a club. Showing face means when you're not really down to go somewhere but you're obligated against your will."

She went on to explain what whitey means to her fellow American followers. "This one's funny. A whitey can happen when you eat something you don't like or have one too many drinks. But it means to vomit or pewking."

Many flocked to the comments to share their confusion, while her Scottish followers praised her for getting used to the dialect.

One said: "Oot Oot! Sounds like an owl."

Another said: "Love these!"

A third replied: "I love your videos, showing us how weird what we say actually is."

"I didn’t realise “showing face” wasn’t used everywhere," a fourth piped up.
