Amy Dowden fans say ‘what a team’ as she shares emotional family update

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has issued an emotional tribute to her husband Ben Jones marking their second wedding anniversary. The pair wed in July 2022 but months later the 33-year-old from Caerphilly was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Sharing a series of photos of her and Ben’s special day Amy penned: “Happy 2nd anniversary! I think it’s fair to say we’ve been through quite a bit during married life. But I’m forever grateful for you! Thank you for this past year! I know at times it’s been so tough for you to watch but you kept positive, kept the house clean away from infections and tried to keep me as positive as possible. I love you even more!

“Let’s hope for a smoother year ahead! But what I do know is we have each other! More adventures, my crazy last min plans, house renovations, dance school fun and basically just us being us! Love you always xxx your Amy xxx”.

Upon sharing the update Amy was inundated with congratulatory messages. Her Strictly co-star Dianne Buswell wrote: “Happy wedding day. love you both from your bridesmaid. loves you I do.”

Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas, who recently revealed that she has a ‘bucket list’ following her own cancer scare, said: “Happy anniversary to two beautiful souls,” while another of Amy’s followers echoed: “Happy Anniversary, here’s to true love & great times ahead for you both.”

A further person shared: “People forget about the incredible person behind the scenes when the worst thing imaginable hits. Happy anniversary, onwards and upwards to you incredible couple xx.” And someone else wrote: "What a team".

While Amy marked the special day on Instagram she has admitted that she did not spend her anniversary with Ben, who was working. Taking to her Instagram Stories on the morning of Tuesday, July 2, she said: “This time, two years ago, I was so excited. I'm doing everything to go back and relive that day again. I feel a little bit guilty because I'm working all day and I'm off to see Girls Aloud tonight but we have just come back from a holiday together.”
