Amy Dowden issues emotional update on personal milestone after tough cancer battle

Professional performer from Strictly Come Dancing, Amy Dowden took to social media to gush over her beloved husband, Benjamin Jones as they marked their second wedding anniversary together.

Amy expressed: "Happy 2nd anniversary! I think it's fair to say we've been through quite a bit during married life. But I'm forever grateful for you! ".

Going into detail about the hurdles they had braved since her breast cancer diagnosis in May 2023 she added: "Thank you for this past year! I know at times it's been so tough for you to watch but you kept positive, kept the house clean away from infections and tried to keep me as positive as possible."

Amy didn't hold back her deep affection as she said: "I love you even more! Let's hope for a smoother year ahead! But what I do know is we have each other!

"More adventures, my crazy last min plans, house renovations, dance school fun and basically just us being us! Love you always xxx your Amy xxx."

The heart warming post was met with an outpour of supportive messages from her Instagram followers who lauded the couple's resilience and wished them more strength and happiness.

One follower noted: "People forget about the incredible person behind the scenes when the worst thing imaginable hits. Happy anniversary, onwards and upwards to you incredible couple xx."

A second wrote: "You'll get through everything together xx congratulations on your special day xx," while a third fan praised: "Most couples would not have survived this test. You have smashed it. Onward and upward you two."

Another supporter echoed the sentiment with their own words of encouragement: "You really learn the love you have during your toughest times and years. So glad you had each other. It's tough on both. Wishing you both healthy, happy and fun-filled years ahead. Ye deserve it."

Following her initial cancer diagnosis, Amy underwent a mastectomy. Post-surgery, she was dealt the devastating blow that the tumours had spread.

In July, doctors discovered another form of cancer. Amy began chemotherapy treatments in August, facing a daunting fight against the disease.

Due to her health challenges, the renowned Welsh dancer was unable to participate in the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

However, defying expectations, she later announced her return to the show later this year, delighting fans with the news that her latest scans showed "no evidence of disease" following her treatment.

Now in full recovery, the TV favourite is gearing up to join this year's BBC lineup.

Amy has expressed her excitement about returning to the beloved dance show, sharing her emotional anticipation to step back onto the glittering stage.
