John Wick's eagerly-anticipated spin-off Ballerina will be arriving later than expected.

Starring Knives Out actor Ana de Armas as the revenge-seeking Rooney, Ballerina was originally set to be released on June 7. However, Deadline has confirmed the release date for the film, set between the third and fourth John Wick movies, has shifted almost a year later to June 6, 2025.

The publication reports the move comes as John Wick architect Chad Stahelski, who is working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences, signs a new deal with Lionsgate to work on the franchise.

Rupert Sanders' reimagining of 1994 cult film The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs as Eric Draven and Shelly Webster, will take over Ballerina's original release date.

Ballerina director Wiseman revealed last year that filming for the movie had been completed, but that production had been halted at the time.

"We're on a pause right now," he told Entertainment Weekly. "But I've just finished the director's cut. Had an amazing shoot. It's a really fun movie."

De Armas previously teased what fans can expect from the upcoming spin-off, which will see her character hellbent on avenging the murder of her family.

"That is gonna be really another level. That movie was really demanding!" she told Entertainment Tonight. "You know, I love the John Wick universe and I loved working with Keanu again. It's a great character and it's a great story, it's beautiful on screen. I'm very excited for that one."

Ballerina will see Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick are set to reprise their roles from the iconic action films, alongside newcomers Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

John Wick spin-off Ballerina will be released on June 6, 2025. The John Wick movies are available to buy or rent on Prime Video, plus DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.
