And Just Like That season 2: Release date and cast as Kim Cattrall cameo announced
Carrie and co return for another chapter of later-in-life drama
Following the success of Sex and The City sequel series And Just Like That in late 2021, a new slew of episodes are heading our way quicker than a martini chaser on a night on the tiles.
The HBO show’s first outing caught up with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) 11 years after the events of the group’s second movie Sex and The City 2 which was released in 2010.
With the friendship group’s fourth member Samantha Jones now absent and living in London following star Kim Cattrall’s decision not to return, we drop in on the trio navigating life in their mid-50s - complete with all the unexpected issues, drama, surprise and heartbreak that it entails.
After wrapping up in early 2022, a second season of And Just Like That was given in the green light shortly afterwards. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
And Just Like That season 2 release date
The second season of And Just Like That is on the way and will be available on Sky and NOW from Thursday, 22 June.
And Just Like That season 2 cast
Returning for more unexpected twists of fate in the big city are Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda, played by Jessica Parker, Davis and Nixon respectively.
Season one co-stars Sarita Choudhury as Seema Patel, Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz, Karen Pittman as Dr. Nye Wallace and Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino are also set to return.
Meanwhile, Evan Handler is back as Charlotte’s husband Harry Goldenblatt, Cathay Ang returns as the duo’s daughter Lily, David Eigenberg returns as Miranda’s ex Steve Brady and Niall Cunningham once again plays their son Brady.
There has been much speculation surrounding the involvement of Kim Cattrall's sex-obsessed fan-favourite Samantha after she decided to stop playing the character a few years back. As a result, she wasn't approached to star in And Just Like That.
In the show’s first season, Samantha was only visible via text messages delivered to Carrie at various moments throughout the series and this is due to continue into the show’s second outing.
With the show’s creator, Michael Patrick King, confirming that her presence will still be felt in season two, fans were shocked when news that Catrall would appear in the series' final episode was revealed in early June.
Don't get too excited though. According to sources, Cattrall will only appear briefly in one single scene which was filmed without Jessica Parker or showrunner King in attendance.
It has been reported that the show will find Samantha on the phone to Carrie from London, where she now lives - and just like that, the much-loved Sex in the City quartet is back in one show... sort of.

Perhaps the biggest name joining the show for its latest slew of episodes is Aidan Shaw, played by former Sex and The City star John Corbett.
Corbett portrayed one of Carrie’s long-time love interests throughout Sex and The City, originally appearing in the show's third season and last showing up in big-screen adventure, Sex and the City 2. The news of Aidan’s return was revealed via Instagram in January this year.
Another long-time Sex and the City alum is also due to appear in the second season in the form of Carrie's old Vogue editor Enid, played by Candice Bergen. Ruthless and to-the-point, Enid was last seen by fans in show's first movie back in 2008.
"Candice Bergen is back as Enid, which we're thrilled about because I always loved Enid. She is a cold, wonderful diva of publishing," said King, confirming Bergen's return.
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Sam Smith has teased their involvement with the show via an Instagram post published in early 2023. However, the depth of their involvement is currently unclear.
American journalist, social political activist and feminist icon, Gloria Steinem, is also set to appear as herself at some point throughout the new series.
And Just Like That season 2 plot
A lot happened in the first season of this sequel series and if you’re not quite caught up yet then maybe stop reading now as spoilers for And Just Like That's first outing are lurking below.
After we found Carrie married to Mr Big (Chris Noth), the pair’s happily ever after was suddenly shattered when her hubby suffered a fatal heart attack following a stint on a Peloton bike.
As Carrie tries to come to terms with her grief, we find Charlotte encountering her daughter’s gender quandaries and Miranda battling alcoholism as her relationship with her husband Steve (Eigenberg) falls apart around her.
This fallout coincides with Carrie’s new job as a co-host of a sex-focused LGBTQ+ podcast, with Miranda striking up a relationship with its co-host Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez). The final moments of season one finally saw Carrie become the host her very own sex-focused podcast while Miranda decided to join Che on a trip to LA.
As for what will happen in season two… well, story details are still tightly under wraps at the moment. If only there was a trailer that could shed some light on what’s in store…
