Anderson police identify suspect in Feb. 23 shooting of 2 people

Feb. 28—ANDERSON — A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Anderson man suspected of shooting two people on Feb. 23.

Anderson police Wednesday identified Shawn Robert Gardner, 29, as the suspect that injured two people last Friday in the 1200 block of Nichol Avenue.

Both victims have been released from the hospital and are recovering.

Gardner is facing felony charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery causing serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness, according to court documents.

According to a press release, Gardner is considered to be armed and dangerous.

On the day of the incident officers were dispatched at 4:19 p.m. to the 1200 block of Madison Avenue near the intersection with Nichol Avenue on reports of shots fired.

When police arrived, they found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman was transported to an Anderson hospital with minor injuries and the man was transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

According to Caleb McKnight, public information officer for the Anderson Police Department, preliminary details indicate the two victims were in a vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The case has been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division and more information will be released when available.
