There's a possibility that Andy Whyment will be treading the cobbles on Coronation Street for the rest of his life.

Whyment is approaching his 17th anniversary of playing Kirk Sutherland on Corrie next month, but that milestone definitely isn't inspiring him to pursue greener pastures.

"I'll stay there for as long as they'll have me," Whyment told OK Magazine. "I love the job. I've been fortunate that I've been able to see my kids grow up.

"I've seen them take their first steps and not many dads can say that."

A commitment to Coronation Street doesn't necessarily mean that Whyment has no other career ambitions. For example, he'd love to give reality TV a shot.

"I've always said I would love to do I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, just to challenge myself," he revealed. "I think it would be a great experience. As I love my food and sleep, it would be a challenge."
