Bad Sisters star Anne-Marie Duff is returning as Dr Susannah Newman in a second season of thriller Suspect.

The British adaptation of Danish drama Forhøret (Face to Face), Suspect has started filming on its second instalment, welcoming a bunch of new actors to its cast. The new chapter will pick up where it left off with season one, seeing Duff's Susannah on a quest to stop a self-confessed murdered before he strikes again.

During a hypnosis session, mysterious patient Jon Fallow (Mamma Mia!'s Dominic Cooper) admits he has killed before and intends to murder another young woman, leaving Susannah no other choice but to stop him.

She realises she has to take things into her own hands when her former lover Detective Superintendent Richard Grove, played by Ben Miller (Death in Paradise, Bridgerton), refuses to take action. A desperate Susannah embarks on a dangerous mission to stop Jon and save Sapphire (Showtrial's Celine Buckens), the way she couldn't do with her own daughter.

"I'm so pleased to be returning to Suspect to be able to dig deeper into the character of Dr Susannah Newman," Duff said in a statement.

"Expect lots of twists, turns and revelations alongside more questions to be answered. I can't wait for viewers to see what we've done with the second series."
