Anne Robinson hits back at surgery rumours

TV’s Queen of Mean has blasted accusations that she’s addicted to going under the knife. In fact, she says the last time she had plastic surgery, Britain had a Labour government.

Now, that is going back a bit.

“Look, I had a facelift 13 years ago,” the former Weakest Link host told The Sun – the paper which prompted more speculation about Anne’s looks when she was photographed looking a wee bit puffy a few months ago.

“But I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, my hair is highlighted once a month, I run and I don’t eat crap food. I try quite hard to look OK.

“I don’t go and have my face pulled around all the time.”

In fact, the 72-year-old star is more than a little miffed that she always gets singled out for special attention – with one caustic viewer even dubbing her the “BBC version of Cher”.

““There are 5,000 face surgeons in this country and I seem to be the only woman on TV who has had a facelift. How does that work?

“There are fewer British film stars in their late sixties that haven’t had a facelift than the ones who have.

“Unfortunately, if you go to the wrong surgeon people really are going to notice. You need to go to one that makes you look well, not like a witch.”

The acid-tongued presenter also thinks the nation is way too obsessed with how we all look, when we should be focussing on more important things – like getting drunk.

“We’re all obsessed with how we look. I’m guilty of this. I keep fit. I don’t like to see the scales go to nine stone. I love clothes and I always have.

“But young people are now obsessed with working out. I met this couple who are always in the gym. They don’t get p***ed. It’s all very boring.

“The young generation is setting the bar very high because of that woman Kim Kardashian. But, really, who’d want to look like Kim Kardashian?”
