Could you handle this ‘invisible’ glass bridge built between two Chinese mountains?
It was only a few months ago that the world’s longest and highest glass bridge was unveiled in China.
But architects have gone one step further – designing an ‘invisible’ glass bridge in the same mountain range.
The transparent footbridge will apparently cost more than £4m to build and is designed to blend in with the landscape of the mountains of Zhangjiajie, said to be the inspiration for blockbuster Avatar.
It is reportedly made from mirrored stainless steel and black stone that becomes reflective when wet, giving the illusion of blending into its surroundings – becoming invisible.
The bridge will have two layers – an upper level without a see-through floor, and a terrifying lower level made entirely of glass, allowing thrill-seekers to peer down at the drop below them.
The impressive design has been created by Martin Duplantier Architectes and Daqian Landscape Architects, who won a design competition, according to Designboom.com.

The site will also include three pavilions built on three different levels on nearby rocky outcrops, from a 360° panorama on the roof to a cafe in the middle, and VIP suites on the lower level so people can spend a night.
Martin Duplantier said site investigations are currently underway and the building is expected to be done in 2018.
