I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! has had fan glued to their screens for another year, and a question that arises annually has been pondered yet again by eagle-eyed viewers.

Hosts Ant and Dec have caught people’s eye thanks to a tiny detail during the Bushtucker trials - their watches.

Observant fans may have noticed that during the competitive challenges, the faces of both Ant and Dec’s watches are blacked out.

It’s a recurring conundrum which comes up every year. In 2017, viewers of ITV2 spin-off show Extra Camp accused hosts Joel Dommett and Scarlett Moffatt of lying about the fact the show is live.

This week one viewer went straight to the source to find the answer to one of the series’ long-standing questions.

The super fan tweeted: ‘Is Ant’s watch covered because of cameras or because of the sun reflection?’ and tagged the Geordie duo.

This time Ant, who has faced the question for many years, didn’t even both to reply personally and opened it up to his online following, asking ‘Who’s gonna explain?’

And then the comments started rolling in.

One response, which went on to be much repeated, gave the game away: ‘It’s so the celebs don’t know the time.’

Another knowingly added: ‘It’s a yearly tradition having to explain this!’

Indeed, Ant was answering questions about his blacked-out watch eight years ago.

One regular viewer went on to explain: ‘They aren’t allowed anything that links them to the outside world ie phones and watches.’

Former contestant and jungle queen Scarlett Moffatt once spoke about the watch blackout while presenting Extra Camp, saying: "I think it's just so you're really disorientated."

She revealed that while she was in the jungle, the campmates once went to bed at around 4pm and had to be told it wasn’t nighttime.
