Ant McPartlin returns to London but is staying 'streets away' from marital home
After Ant McPartlin completed a stint in rehab over the summer for prescription drug addiction, he jetted off to Los Angeles to continue with his recovery.
Now it has been revealed that Ant has returned to London, but he now faces a battle to save his 23-year relationship with wife Lisa Armstrong.
According to reports, Ant is staying in a rented home streets away from his and Lisa’s £6million mansion, with the Geordie star still wearing his wedding ring even though Lisa has been spotted without hers.
The 41-year-old TV presenter was spotted arriving at his marital home last night to collect their shared Labrador Hurley, with Lisa leaving in her car shortly afterwards – believed to be making her way to Strictly Come Dancing’s BBC studios where she works as a make-up artist.
Speaking to The Mirror, an onlooker shared: “He arrived on foot with another bloke and waited for the gates to open.
“He seemed a little apprehensive, then he and the guy went in.
“They both looked really sad. I feel so sorry for them both. They look like they’re having such a hard time.”
Ant previously confessed that he put Lisa “through hell” after he became dependent on alcohol and prescription drugs following botched surgery on his knee that left him in agony.
After leaving rehab in August, he said: “I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you. I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage.”
When asked if his relationship had survived his ordeal, Ant replied: “All I can say at the moment is that she’s been amazing – fantastic throughout. She’s been very supportive. Time will tell.”
Ant and Lisa married in 2006 after more than a decade together, with the pair meeting when they were both performing on the Smash Hits Tour in Newcastle in 1994.
Ant was just 18 and performing alongside his now-co-host, Declan Donnelly, as part of music act PJ and Duncan, and Lisa was 17 years old and part of the band Deuce.
Despite his marital woes, Ant is expected to make a sensational TV return alongside Dec on 19 November for the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
