Anthea Turner's Ex-Husband Grant Bovey 'Signs Up To Celebrity Big Brother For £100,000'

Anthea Turner’s ex-husband Grant Bovey has signed up to star in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother for a reported £100,000.

The property magnate and film producer was declared bankrupt in 2010 after he racked up debts of £50 million and is said to have welcomed the offer of a big pay day from Channel 5 bosses to enter the infamous abode.

A source told The Sun: “Grant has never recovered financially since going bankrupt and the Big Brother offer was too good to turn down … It’s not what he ideally wants to do but his firms aren’t doing well at the moment and he’s owed money by clients and suppliers.”

The 53-year-old businessman will join former ‘X Factor’ contestant Katie Waissel and Absolutely Fabulous star Helen Lederer in the house when the series kicks off in August.

And Grant should know what to expect when he goes on CBB because his ex-wife Anthea appeared in the first ever celebrity version of Big Brother 15 years ago, not long after they got together.

The sourced added: “He knows what the show is all about because Anthea went on it just after they got together.”

The news will likely shock the 55-year-old TV presenter, who was married to Grant for 13 years.

She kicked Grant out of their Surrey home in 2013 amid allegations he’d had a year-long affair with socialite Zoe De Mallet Morgan, and has admitted their break-up threw her life into turmoil.

Anthea previously said: “I’m sure many divorcees will understand when I say I miss the timeline of my old experience. I had the life I had always wanted and, to be honest, expected. A husband, children, home, good friends as well as a career. And then a volcano goes off, a bomb explodes in your personal life and everything changes over night and you have to start again.”

The couple first got together in 1998 following TV presenter Anthea’s split from her first husband, DJ Peter Powell.

However, they split briefly when Grant rekindled his relationship with his wife Della - with whom he has three children - before tying the knot in 2000.

Anthea was granted a quickie divorce from Grant in just two minutes at the Central Family Court in London last October.
