A Brazilian radio DJ was shot dead as he presented a show live on air.

Two gunmen burst into Gleydson Carvalho’s studio at Radio Liberdade FM in Camocim, Ceara state, at 12:40 p.m. Thursday to carry out the horrific execution.

They fired three shots at the presenter - who was known to fiercely criticise government corruption - before fleeing on a motorbike.

They’d earlier overpowered a receptionist to gain access to the beach resort studio.

Local media reports that the attack occurred during a musical interlude.

After the shooting, another station employee took to the airwaves to reveal that Carvalho had been attacked and was receiving medical attention.

He was rushed to Deputado Murilo Aguiar Hospital. But he tragically died en route.

“Today they silenced one of the most important voices of our region, in a tragic and unnecessary way,” said a Camocim town hall statement.

Carvalho was known in the region for his show, in which he denounced political corruption.

It had led to him receiving several threats via his Facebook profile.
