Anti-Government Protests Continue Across Peru
Nationwide protests continued in Peru, in the eighth week of the South American country’s political crisis, local news outlets reported on January 31.
During demonstrations in the city of Cusco, a group of people attacked a bus with passengers inside on Avenida de la Cultura, Gestion said.
Footage filmed by Twitter user @Luna_bchz shows a man hitting a parked car with a stick on the same street.
Demonstrations have rocked Peru since former president Pedro Castillo was ousted after he tried to dissolve the opposition-controlled congress ahead of an impeachment vote. Supporters of the former president are demanding that his successor, Dina Boluarte, resign.
According to Peru’s ombudsman’s office 58 people have been killed and 1,792 injured in protests since December. Credit: @Luna_bchz via Storyful
