A Swindon-based vintage and antique furniture company hoping to challenge norms is opening up a new showroom in Stratton.

Hus & Home, previously named Ridgeway Antiques, currently has a shop based on Westmead Drive in Swindon but will be expanding to open up a large showroom at the Equity Trade Centre on Hobley Drive, Stratton.

The company has been established for the past five years and has customers nationwide, but says that this new two-floor showroom will be a place for people to see the items in person before they buy.

The rebranded name Hus & Home was chosen because Hus is a word meaning 'house' in several Scandinavian languages.

Company director Cameron Carash felt that this name would better represent the mixture of British brand and Scandinavian designer pieces on offer.

"We are proud to challenge the norm and bring something different to Swindon, as antique and mid-century interior retailers are usually reserved for places such as London and Tetbury," Cameron explained.

"We are already attracting interior designers, movie studios, high street retailers and end users, but we want to increase our standing within Swindon even further, hence the investment in new premises."

Over the past five years, the company has secured a great reputation for itself, even supplying items to Netflix and Pinewood Studios for TV and film sets.

Hus & Home has not yet released an official opening date for the new showroom, but has said that it's expected to be fully operational within six months.

While the new premises is being converted, the storeroom will be open via appointment only.
