Antonio Banderas wants his fans to know he's in "good health" after a recent hospital scare.

The Puss in Boots actor was rushed to a hospital in Surrey while in the UK earlier this month when he suffered chest pains while exercising, with the medical centre confirming to People that he was subsequently discharged after being checked by doctors.

Now, Antonio's spokesperson is speaking out to reassure fans that the 56-year-old Spanish actor is on the mend after that scary experience.

"We can confirm that last Thursday Antonio was admitted to hospital after having experienced chest pain while exercising," his representative said on Monday (January 30).

"However, Antonio was released that same day after doctors performed a check-up which confirmed his good health."

The actor's representative also clarified that this was not a "major health scare", with Antonio himself telling fans he's feeling better on his own Instagram account.

Posing with his girlfriend Nicole Kimpel, he wrote: "Enjoying nature after a startle. Kisses."

Antonio has a busy 2017 ahead with the release of his and Sir Ben Kingsley's thriller Security ,and a starring role in a biopic about slain designer Gianni Versace reportedly in the pipeline.

All the best for a happy and healthy 2017, Antonio! Here's to many, many more years of making absolutely anything sound extremely sexy.
