When is Theresa May appearing on TV with Jeremy Corbyn?

Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Theresa May will appear live on Channel 4 and Sky News alongside Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn tonight -  Bank Holiday Monday, May 29.

The pair will be grilled on key policies, just over a week before the General Election on June 8 when the nation goes to the polls to pick who they want to run the country.

So, is it a debate?

No, there will be no head to head between the two politicians. Mrs May has been quite clear that about not doing any televised head-to-head debates during the General Election campaign.

Each leader will be quizzed for 45 minutes, divided between questions from an invited audience and questions posed by Mr Paxman.

Who is hosting?

Channel 4's election anchor Paxman is fronting the 90 minute programme, while Sky News' political editor Faisal Islam will moderate when members of a studio audience put questions to the two leaders.

Mr Paxman has never before interviewed Mr Corbyn although he has interviewed Mrs May.

During his time on BBC 2's Newsnight, Mr Paxman earned a reputation of being a fearsome interviewer and a current affairs "rottweiler".

In his memoir, Paxman said he once asked Mrs May “Are those f***-me shoes?” Discussing the encounter last year, he said: “I bet you Theresa May has no recollection.”

Mr Paxman’s most memorable confrontation came when he asked Michael Howard, then the home secretary, 14 times if he had threatened to overrule the prison chief Derek Lewis in a row over the suspension of a jail governor.
