A housing association has opened applications for grants of up to £5,000 for initiatives supporting communities in the area.

Sovereign Network Group (SNG) opened its Thriving Communities fund, which will prioritise groups that operate within communities where the association has homes, and whose work will directly benefit its customers.

The funding will support a range of activities, but particularly those focusing on youth services, health and wellbeing, ageing, social inclusion and isolation, the environment, customer voice, employment support, food insecurity, digital inclusion and skills, money matters and debt advice.

Organisations applying to the fund must be either local not-for-profit groups, community organisations, or registered charities and must be able to demonstrate how they will engage with and benefit SNG customers.

The housing association is partnering with Action Funder to distribute the Thriving Communities Fund.

Matt Buckham, managing director of SNG’s Community Foundation, said: “We’re really pleased to be launching this fund which underpins our core purpose by supporting people with the foundation for a better life.

“We look forward to supporting some fantastic organisations making a difference in our communities with this investment.

“This fund offers a taste of what’s to come as we work on launching our Community Foundation which will deliver £100m of investment across our communities over the next decade.”

SNG will be hosting an information webinar on Tuesday, July 9 at 2pm to share more details about the fund, how to apply, and to give people the opportunity to ask the company more questions.
