Argentine Police Intercept Boat Carrying 700 Pounds of Marijuana

The Argentine marine authorities seized a boat carrying over 700 pounds (320 kilograms) of marijuana near the border with Paraguay, footage released by Prefectura Naval Argentina on Monday, April 22, showed.

According to a press release from Argentinian marine authorities, the marijuana were seized in the northern town of Ita Ibate, in Corrientes province, as part of an operation against drug trafficking led by the Ministry of National Security.

The press release reported that authorities investigated and gathered information to determine the specific kilometers of the Parana River where the drug-smuggling attempt would occur.

“As a result of this information, and thanks to the deployment of personnel and resources at strategic points, a boat loaded with packages was found on the coast,” the marine authorities said.
