Argos Website MELTDOWN As Glitch Deletes Customers’ Christmas Shopping Lists

Argos customers who had hoped to get their Christmas shopping done are reacting with fury after their lists were DELETED when an IT glitch hit the company’s website.

Thousands of customers are now stressed out that items they had already ordered and paid for will not be delivered in time for the festive season.

The glitch crashed the catalogue store’s site over the weekend - the first major shopping weekend in the run up to Christmas.

It is believed that huge discounts advertised for Black Friday later this month saw a surge in traffic that crashed the site and led to orders being lost.

Customers took to the Argos Facebook and Twitter pages to complain about orders failing to turn up despite money being taken from bank accounts.

Worryingly, some claimed that Argos had told them that they had no record of their order at all.

Karen Price said she was on hold for nearly five hours while she tried to chase up an order she placed on Saturday.

She wrote on the Argos Facebook page: “They take my £180 then the site crashes and they have no record of my order, even though I have an authorisation code from my bank which proves you took the money.

“This is the worst customer service I have experienced in my life.”

Another customer, paid £400 online on Saturday for a Sony TV but was told there was no record of her payment when she went in store to collect it.

Thinking the first order had not been processed, she paid £400 to buy the TV there and then - but was shocked to discover she had been charged twice.

She said: “I’m very upset. What a joke. I’m sure if I owed them money they would have contacted me straight away.”

An Argos spokesman apologised for the issues facing customers over the weekend.

He added: “We have identified and fixed the issue and our site is now up and running.”
