Ariana Grande Shares Funny Clip from “Wicked” Rehearsals with Cynthia Erivo: 'One of Our Favorite Videos Ever'
'Wicked' officially wrapped filming on Friday, ahead of its November theatrical release
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were in their own world on the set of Wicked.
In a video shared by Grande, 30, on TikTok Tuesday, the "yes, and?" singer can be seen sitting side-by-side with Erivo, 37, as they chatted to each other on the set. Unbeknownst to them, someone was filming their special moment just a few feet away.
The person holding the camera can be heard saying, "They talk amongst themselves and don't hear the world. Like, we could talk about them out loud, and they don't even know what's happening in the outside world."
At that point, the actors finally noticed the camera, and both began laughing. "What are you talking about?" a confused Grande asked.
The actress captioned her post, "One of our favorite videos ever." She also noted it was filmed in 2022 during rehearsals for Wicked.
Erivo and Grande, who play best friends Elphaba and Glinda in the film which is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, have grown close over the course of the filming process. At the start of the year, the pair even showed off the matching tattoos they received to commemorate their time working together. They each got a poppy flower and the phrase "for good" inked on their hands.
Filming for Wicked — which is set to be released in two parts — officially wrapped last week, and the cast shared a series posts on social media to mark the special occasion. Erivo called the project "the greatest gift I ever could have asked for" in a post on Instagram.
"I've been trying to think of what I’d say when this day finally came, and I’m failing miserably, because honestly there aren’t enough words to fully express what this experience has meant to me, so I’ll leave you with this," she wrote. "The universe will take things away to make space for the grand gifts it has waiting for us."

Erivo continued, "THIS moment, this film, these people, this cast, this crew, this director, my Glinda, were the grandest gift I could ever have asked for, and I am eternally grateful for the chance to bring you This Elphie," Erivo, 37, added alongside an image of her shadow on a stage. "I hope when you meet her, you’ll love her as much and as fiercely as I do. And with that I say, that’s a wrap for me, Elphie out!! 💚💚💚."
Meanwhile, Grande shared a black and white snap of Glinda's shadow on her Instagram alongside the caption, "like a handprint on my heart."
In addition to Grande and Erivo, Wicked stars Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Wang, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh. The movie is directed by Jon M. Chu, who shared his own collection of behind-the-scenes photos to mark the end of filming.

"Then close your eyes. Tap your heels together 3 times and think to yourself…" his Instagram caption began.
"Thank you to the massive crew and cast and @universalpictures pictures for supporting the most ambitious cinematic production I have ever been a part of or, frankly, ever witnessed," Chu wrote. "We built real Munchkinland! A multi-level Shiz University Campus! I walked and shopped in a real Emerald City and met the actual Wizard head that moved in realtime."
He continued, "And to fill that space with the insane LIVE vocals of @cynthiaerivo @arianagrande @jbayleaf @michelleyeoh_official @jeffgoldblum @ethanslater @fayedunaway @marissa_edob @bronwynjamesofficial @realkealasettle @aaronteoh and so many more?!! Most of the year my jaw has been on the floor and heart in the clouds. Cameras began rolling here in London in November of 2022 and now in January 2024 our principal photography is officially wrapped. Whew. Exhale. Closing my eyes."
