Ariana Grande’s White House Performance Rejected After Doughnut-Licking Scandal

Pop sensation Ariana Grande was deemed too much of Dangerous Woman for the White House after her doughnut-licking scandal last year.

In July 2015, the singer made headlines after a bizarre incident, whereby she was caught on camera licking a bunch of doughnuts while declaring that she hated America (Yes, REALLY).

And although she apologised post doughnut-gate, it caused quite a setback in her career – further evidenced by a previously disclosed email exchange from the recently hacked Democratic National Committee, published on WikiLeaks.

According to the messages that circulated on Friday (July 22), Ariana, 23, had been presented as an option to perform for the President of the United States at the White House earlier this year, but her booking was firmly rejected.

“Can we also veto Arianna Grande?” DNC Finance Chair Zachary Allen wrote in an email, misspelling the popstar’s name.

“This misguided young pop singer said that she hated America and hated Americans,“ another email in the detailed back-and-forth thread read, adding that she also "contaminated food for resale with the very tongue with which she uttered the hatred rant”. Yikes!

After further consideration between the committee members, Ariana’s appearance at the White House was dismissed with a simple and blunt, “Nope, sorry.”

In the video that surfaced last year, Ariana shared some doughnut shop PDA and ranted: “What… is that? I hate Americans. I hate America,” when a tray of ring-shaped pastries appeared in front of her.

The Focus singer later apologised for her actions and backtracked faster than a melting snow cone, claiming that she was “extremely proud” to be an American.

The Arianators supported the star, posting under the hashtag ‘We Forgive You Ariana’, and she managed to put the hole fiasco behind her after topping the UK charts with her latest album Dangerous Woman in May.
