Arkansas River Overruns Its Banks in Northeast Oklahoma

Heavy rains triggered flooding along the Arkansas River in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, May 22, the National Weather Service said

Video from the city’s mayor shows flooding along sections of the Arkansas River during a surveillance flight on Wednesday. The river reached a flood stage in Tulsa shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning, forecasters said. A flood stage had not been reached since 1986.

Resident of nearby Broken Arrow have been asked to evacuate, according to local media reports. Videos posted by Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum show flooding in Avant and Skiatook.
