Armed 'Patriots' March in Louisville as Anti-Racism Protesters Nearby

A group of armed and self-described “patriots” gathered in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 5, as other groups, including anti-racism protesters, gathered nearby on Kentucky Derby day.

The “patriot event,” organized by right-wing and pro-gun YouTube personality Angry Viking for his “fellow patriots,” assembled in Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park, with footage showing the crowd holding flags, chanting “U-S-A,” and listening to speakers.

“Make no mistake folks,” a man addressing the crowd says, “the BLM movement is absolutely one-hundred percent a fake social justice movement.” The crowd responds in agreement.

“Every one of you out here will be called a white supremacist,” he adds.

Later video shows members of group yelling at a man who approached them with a sign reading: “Louisville does not need your guns. We don’t want your guns.” He is then ushered away from the group.

Local news reported the “patriot” group marched into downtown Louisville, with tensions flaring between them and Breonna Taylor protesters, before the armed group walked away to create distance between them. Credit: @AlexRandallDav2 via Storyful
