Armed police swarm Glasgow property as man rushed to hospital after falling ill

Armed police rushed to a property in Glasgow's south side this evening, Tuesday May 14, following reports of a 'weapon' inside a property.

It is understood that Police Scotland received a report of a weapon inside the property on Kyleakin Road, Arden, where a man had fallen unwell.

An eyewitness reported seeing "lots of officers with guns" at the scene around 4pm. The force has confirmed that officers were supported by the firearms unit during the incident.

Following a search, police found a BB gun and confirmed there were no injuries or threat to the wider public. A 31-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for a check-up.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 4pm on Tuesday, to a report of a possible weapon within a property on Kyleakin Road in Glasgow where a man had been taken ill.

"Officers attended and a BB gun was recovered. There was no threat to the wider public and no one was injured.

"A 31-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be checked over."
