Ex-Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson says that Arne Slot must complete a raid on Crystal Palace and make Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze his first signings for the club.

Once the expected arrival of the Dutch coach is confirmed, he will have a huge summer ahead as he takes the reigns of Jurgen Klopp's squad - one that in time he will no doubt transform into his own through philosophy and new additions.

Whilst arguments could be made to address multiple areas within the squad, it appears Slot is being instructed to first look at his attack. Liverpool's five senior forwards have scored 86 goals between themselves this season though a freshening up may be in order, says 'Lawro'.

"I’m not being funny, but Liverpool should be in for Michael Olise and Ebere Eze," he told Paddy Power. "Olise went past everyone for his goal [against Manchester United], and I think he’s slightly better. He’s a fab talent and if you’re a top six club, you’d be making a phone call and wanting to take him."

The Eagles duo have produced some eye-catching performances in recent seasons, especially in the past few weeks since new manager Oliver Glasner's system has clicked into place. As well as the Man United demolition referenced by Lawrenson, Eze was responsible for the killer blow when his side left Anfield with a shock 1-0 win last month.

So far in the current season Olise, 22, has nine goals and four assists to his name, whilst Eze, 25, has scored eight and teed up three. Especially for the former on 17 appearances for the campaign, these numbers are impressive, however when remembering their frequent absences have mostly been down to injury problems, this is why Lawrenson also makes sure to produce a clear warning alongside his advice.

"They’re both fantastic but on the flip side, they get injured a lot so you have to be very careful," he added. "It may be that they’re still growing, or that they find it difficult to play two games a week. But in terms of talent, they’ve both got loads."
