DC TV is doubling down on its Team Arrow storyline by bringing back two key members next season.

The current fifth season of Arrow has been focussed around Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) building a team of heroes to help him patrol Star City in the wake of his ally Laurel Lance's (Katie Cassidy) brutal murder.

Two key members of that team have been street vigilante Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and rogue cop Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), the latest hero to take on the mantle of Black Canary.

Since both heroes have been central in the Green Arrow's war against the sadistic Prometheus (Josh Segarra),the show's official Instagram has confirmed that stars Rick Gonzalez and Juliana Harkavy will be sticking around next season.

In fact, the two will even be promoted to the main cast… lending credence to the possibility of the Team Arrow concept sticking around beyond the fifth season storyline.

Harkavy's character Dinah Drake is an intriguing one since that's the name of the most famous incarnation of Black Canary (who is the long-time love of Oliver Queen from DC Comics).

However, the ArrowVerse first gave the mantle of Black Canary to the assassin Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) and later her sister Laurel (Katie Cassidy) before both siblings were killed.

If you're keeping score, Sara Lance was later resurrected and has become a leader of the Legends of Tomorrow under the White Canary monicker while Laurel… is still dead.

The news of Dinah Drake's promotion comes after it was revealed that Katie Cassidy will soon be returning to Arrow, but as the evil doppleganger Black Siren rather than Black Canary. Are you still following us?

Also returning to the DC TV originator for its upcoming season finale will be Manu Bennett as the classic villain Deathstroke (despite what you've heard to the contrary).

Arrow continues on Wednesdays on The CW in the US. Sky1 airs the show in the UK.
