The new season will sadly be the last, though it does come ahead of the much-anticipated 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover event.

As for season eight itself, it looks like a number of familiar faces will be returning to the fold, not least Rila Fukushima's Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana and John Barrowman's Malcolm Merlyn.

Of course, this being the last season, it means we will be saying some emotional goodbyes, and star Stephen Amell recently revealed that he actually pitched his own character's ending all the way back in season one.

"It's what I want," he told TV Guide. "I pitched it for a very long time. It's what I want, but concurrently that doesn't mean that there aren't surprises along the way."

He previously teased: "I've always had a very specific idea for how the series would end.

"It came to me at some point during season 1, and whether it's through a flash-forward or whatever, I just hope that we end up getting to do that."

Arrow airs on The CW in the US, and on Sky One and NOW TV in the UK.
