Asda demand shoppers 'stop' using item and say 'sorry for inconvenience'

Asda has issued an emergency warning to customers and demanded they "stop" using an item. Asda, one of the largest supermarket chains in the country, has issued an urgent product recall for a homeware item as we approach the weekend.

The Goblin handheld vacuum should not be used and can be returned to stores for a refund. Asda has issued the warning via the Chartered Trading Standards Institute website and Asda product recalls page for the 'Goblin GHV102W-20 White Mini Handheld Cordless Vac'.

Asda explained: "Barcode: 5057172148660. Site Codes (subject to this recall, which are found on the body of the vac): 15A.08.20.115 15A.10.21.181 15A.09.22.168 Please note: 15A.09.22.168A is not included in this recall.

"What’s happened? ASDA has determined that in some units of the Goblin handheld Vacs, the battery may overheat and could pose a fire safety risk if left on charge and unattended.

"What you should do? Stop using the unit and return it to your nearest ASDA store for a full refund or exchange. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101."

Yesterday, the supermarket chain withdrew Wanis semolina and said: "Wanis are recalling Tropical Sun Semolina Coarse 1.5Kg because it contains wheat (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label. This means these codes are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten."

"If you have purchased any of the Best Before End dates listed above, please bring them back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0800 952 010 Or," it added.
