Asda issues warning over food item labelled with incorrect use-by date as product recalled

Asda has recalled a food product as it has been labelled with an incorrect ‘use-by’ date and could be unsafe to eat after this week.

The retailer has warned that a batch of ASDA Succulent Cooked & Peeled King Prawns have been wrongly coded with the use by date of December 21. The correct use by date is April 21.

The item should not be eaten after April 21 and people are being asked to return the affected product to their nearest store. A full refund will be given.

ASDA says: "The product has been incorrectly coded with the use by 21 DEC. The correct use by date is the 21 APR. The product should not be consumed past this date.

"If you have purchased ASDA Succulent Cooked & Peeled King Prawns with Use By Date of 21 DEC, Batch Number L66000 please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations – 0800 952 0101."

The product recall notice has also been shared by the Food Standards Agency. Full details of the item, including the batch code, pack size and barcode, are given below.
