Asda recalls crisps in milk allergy scare after packaging error

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent warning to ASDA customers after a batch of crisps was found to contain milk.

Asda is recalling their ASDA Extra Special Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps because they contain milk - which has not been declared on the label.

A packaging error has led to some packets containing Cheese & Onion Crisps. This means they could be a health risk to people with allergies or intolerances to milk or milk constituents.

What to do if you have bought the product

Asda is recalling the product and has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

In the notice, an Asda spokesman said: "If you have purchased ASDA Extra Special Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps 150g with the above Best Before date, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.

"We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused."

An FSA spokesman said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the nearest Asda store for a refund, with or without a receipt." For more information contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.
